Janet Greco – Bio
Born in Camden, New Jersey, 1959 she first began documenting the urban and suburban landscapes around New Jersey in 1980 as a photojournalism student at Temple University where she majored in Radio-TV-and-Film.
Janet subsequently made her her career in Europe in the television industry as a consultant and entrepreneur. In 2016, she obtained an M.A. in Photography and Design at Elisava School of Design and Engineering in Barcelona.
She is currently focused on Greco Home Design, where she is licensing her wide range of work based on her has a very large archive of 30,000 film negatives (from 1980 to the present) plus over 200,000 digital images dating back to 2003. She also offers annual photography workshops on the Mediterranean island of Menorca and is available for commissions.
An avid and passionate photographer over many years, Janet has participated in workshops with several masters including Mary Ellen Mark, Platon, Sarah Leen and master printer Gene Nocon, among others.
Janet´s photographic work encompasses a wide range of unusual documentary subjects that explore her personal history past and present. Her Country, Urban and Mediterranean collections for Greco Home Design are inspired by her very broad definition of home. She has lived in five European countries and currently splits her time between Barcelona, London and South Jersey, which will always be home.
Drawing on her deep family roots – her father made slipcovers for a living – she is drawn to textiles, patterns and mixes photography with other media including fabric and thread. She also works with old and new alternative photographic processes ranging from Cyanotype to newer technologies such as Augmented Reality.
